Viña del Mar became Chile’s glamorous seaside resort in the early 20th century, and the building that sealed it was the Casino Municipal, opened in 1930 on the seafront beside the mouth of the Marga Marga estuary. It is one of the oldest casinos in South America, and its white neoclassical façade and formal gardens are still a landmark.
Today it is operated by the Enjoy group together with a modern five-star hotel next door. Inside are gaming rooms, bars, restaurants and a show venue; outside, the gardens and the beach are a few steps away.
